The Devils would like to welcome Aaron “Bear” Riddle who joined the club this week coming across from Ringwood FC where he played in 2014 and was second in their Best & Fairest. Aaron is more well known in the EFL for the 9 years he spent playing with the Glen Waverley Hawks which in that time he led their midfield group and also collected 2 Best & Fairest and 3 Runners Up. He played a big role in getting GW Hawks into back to back Grand Final appearances in 2011 (Div 4) and 2012 (Div 3) playing as a bash and crash centreman. He is a strong inside midfielder who wins his own footy and likes to give off to running players, he will offer great leadership for our younger players and will also be a great club man and a very popular member of the Devils playing list. Our supporters will love the way he goes about it, a big welcome to the “Bear”.
The Wantirna South Football Club is extremely pleased to announce the recruitment of talented defender Dean Waller from Vermont FC.
Dean joins us as a 2 x Senior premiership player at Vermont and will bring a wealth of experience to our club. He is in the prime of his football life at 26 years old and stands 6ft 4inch and is best known in Division 1 circles as a key position back-line player who has a strong mark and is rarely beaten. Waller also has the ability to play a number of other positions on the ground making him very versatile. We welcome Dean to the Devils and look forward to seeing him in the green and white in 2015.
The football club would like to welcome a new player Nick Johnson who has joined the Devils for season 2015. Nick is a 21 year old who comes to us from Vermont FC where he played in the midfield for the Eagles. As a player he is described as a quick, hard at it midfielder with a natural ability to be a leader. Nick had a great 2014 where he made 14 senior appearances at Vermont and also collected a Div 1 Reserves premiership. The club is very excited that Nick will be playing his football with us next year and beyond.
The club is thrilled to announce 2008 premiership player Tom Carmody will be returning to the Devils to play Division 2 football in 2015.
Tommy came straight out of our U18’s where he impacted senior footy straight away and was a key forward in our Div 2 premiership team of 2008. In 2009, the club struggled on the ground up in Division 1, but Tom starred in our only victory for the season when he booted 9 goals against powerhouse side Noble Park. Tom played his junior footy with Vermont and in 2010 he returned back to the Eagles to continue playing in 1st Division where he lined up in a forwardline that boasted names such as Matt Greig and Ash Froud. A couple of years later Tom suffered a major set back breaking his leg in the Senior Div 1 Grand Final, but he returned to football this season at Vermont after a lengthy lay off.
Tommy is a 27 year old key forward who is at the peak of his powers and is much loved and respected person by all at the club and we are very happy to have him back in the green and white next season.
